I hope that you all had a wonderful winter break. Hawley staff returned relaxed and rejuvenated, ready to hit the ground running.
Over the next few weeks we will be conducting our midyear assessments. We administer reading assessments (DRA to all rades K-3 and those receiving support in grade 4). We also administer the NWEA to all grades. This is a computer assessment which also looks at reading as well as math progress.
These are standardized assessments that are used for progress monitoring purposes. We use this data to drive our instruction and make sure that students are progressing in the manner in which we would like. The data also guides us in providing supports to students as well as enrichment opportunities.
There is no preparation that can be done at home. We ask that students simply get rest, eat well and are on time to school. We also ask that daytime appointments be avoided if possible.
Feel free to contact the following people with any questions that you may have: Patti Vitarelli (Language Arts Consultant), Jenna Connors (Math Specialist), Keri Snowden (Lead Teacher) or me.
“Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement,
achievement, and success have no meaning.”
